Dear Colleagues-
I am honored to serve as the president of Ohio GI Society (OGS). I have been a part of OGS since its inception and have served in various roles in the past. This society has really grown in the last 15 years, thanks to the leadership of past presidents.
The goal of OGS is to advance legislative and practice management related issues affecting Ohio gastroenterologists and we will continue to do so with the support of all its members. I would like to encourage all of you to renew your OGS membership and to encourage your colleagues and partners in your practice to join our society. It provides members access to state level advocacy and to promote quality patient care in the practice of gastroenterology.
We will have our state legislative day in Columbus in spring of 2025. This is a great opportunity for OGS members to meet with state representatives and senators and advocate on pertinent GI topics or legislation. This year we are supporting House Bill (HB) 130 which would ease regulatory burden of prior authorization, improve healthcare system and outcomes for patients. If HB 130 passes, it will create a Prior Authorization Gold Card, where providers who constantly adhere to evidence-based medicine will be exempted from certain prior authorization requirements. This will reduce barriers to patient care and overregulation for Ohio healthcare providers.
I would like to thank all those who attended our 2024 Annual meeting. It was another successful meeting with very pertinent topics and excellent speakers. I would like to thank Dr. Dany Raad for his efforts over the past three years in chairing our education committee, and in executing our annual CME event. He will continue in his role as education chair next year.
Our 2025 annual meeting will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, in Columbus at the Renaissance Columbus Westerville Hotel. We would love to have member participation in our subcommittees.
Please go to ohiogisociety.org/contact to reach out to us. Please bring to our attention any regulatory, legislative or insurance related issues that are affecting your practice.
We want to encourage your participation and look forward to hearing from you.
Respectfully,
Sangeeta Agrawal, MD, FACG, FASGE, AGAF
OGS President
