Sept. 18 Annual Meeting Summary

Shaffer Mok, MD, 2020-2021 Education Chair

More than 90 colleagues from around the state gathered IN PERSON on Sept. 18 at the Hilton Columbus at Easton for the OGS annual meeting. It was so good to connect with old friends and make new relationships.

This year’s meeting had a new format. In the morning we heard from eight leading experts on gastroenterology, endoscopy and liver disease.

After lunch, for the first time there were hands-on demonstrations that also allowed participants to practice eight new and novel techniques and procedures. Attendees earned CME and MOC credits for both the lectures and hands-on sessions. Overall the evaluations were very positive and 100% of all those who reported agreed they were highly satisfied/satisfied with all of the speakers and strongly agree/agree that they gained new information and developed new strategies to implement.

“Great talks; enjoyed the variety.”
“ Excellent, cutting edge presentations.”
“ Great topics, good discussion and new hands-on sessions great!”
“This year’s meeting was amazing.”

During the break attendees were able to view 12 scientific abstract posters presented by our bright medical students and physicians in training.

Awards were presented to the top three posters:

Ayushi Jain, MD PGY-2 • The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center “Alcohol-Related Liver Disease Increased in Severity During the COVID-19 Pandemic”

Shaina Ailawadi, BS MS-3 • Wright State Boonshoft School of Medicine “Double Trouble: A Peculiar Case of Jejunal MAL”
